Getting to Oriam
Oriam is located in the south-west of Edinburgh, six miles from the city centre. The facility has excellent transport links allowing ease of access to Edinburgh city centre, Edinburgh airport and wider surrounding areas. Train, air, motorway and trunk road networks provide connections to the wider country, UK and beyond.
From the centre of Edinburgh the bus journey takes about 30–40 minutes. The number 25 departs every 10 minutes during the day, and every 15 minutes after 8.00pm. Fares cost £1.70 for a single and £4 for a day ticket. Please note that exact money is required for Lothian Buses but not for Airlink. Payment can be made using your mobile phone. Other Lothian Buses services include the X25, 34, 45, 63 and the N25/N34 (night bus). St Andrew Square bus station, at the east of Princes St, is the terminus for all national coach services to the capital. The mainline rail network runs to the city centre with major stations at Princes St and Haymarket. Curriehill station, which is only one mile from Oriam, offers a frequent service to Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Central Station. There is no direct transport link from either Edinburgh Park or Curriehill so it is advisable to alight at Haymarket and take a number 25 from Dalry Road which terminates at the campus. It’s easy and safe to get to Oriam from the city centre thanks to a number of cycle routes. These routes offer cyclists the opportunity to take paths along the Union Canal or follow main roads in safety. Check CycleStreets website. for more information.
Getting to Oriam by car is easy. Oriam very well connected, being only half a mile from the Calder Junction of the A720 City of Edinburgh by-pass and the A71. You’ll see clear signs for Heriot-Watt University on your approach.
Edinburgh International Airport is only three miles from Oriam. The airport offers a wide range of scheduled national and international flights. From the airport getting to the city centre by Airlink bus takes around 60 minutes and costs £7. From the city centre you can get to Oriam by bus.
